What is covered?
Covered are new and used electronic devices (here: tablet) including the original accessories included in delivery. The device covered is the one identified in the insurance certificate, uniquely identifiable by serial or IMEI number. The subject matter of the insurance includes, among other things:
- Drop, breakage, sand, and liquid damage, insofar as this impairs the intended use (in particular the viewing/operating area of the display) or the function
- Mechanically applied force
- Damage from fire, explosion, implosion, overvoltage, induction, short circuit
- Damage from sabotage and vandalism
- Damage from battery wear (within the limits stated below)
- Battery and display damage, provided it is not a warranty/guarantee case

- Damage from operating errors and improper handling
Note on product variants: The PDF contains two IPID versions of the "Tablet insurance" product. The extended version (pages 3–4) additionally covers loss:
- Theft, if the device was carried securely in personal possession (in visual/physical contact, so that theft is noticed immediately)
- Break-in theft from a locked car (non-visible area, e.g. trunk/glove compartment)
- Break-in theft from a locked house/apartment/room
- Robbery and looting (use of force, the threat of an act of violence posing a danger to life and limb, or removal after the insured person has lost the ability to resist)
Which of the two variants (with/without the theft module) applies under a specific tariff must be taken from the individual customer's insurance certificate – both versions carry the same product name "Tablet insurance" with no further tariff designation in the PDF.
Which tariffs and prices are available?
The sum insured must, per the IPID, be taken from the individual contract documents (insurance certificate) – no amounts or tariff levels are stated in the information document itself.
- No entry price is stated on the product page (unlike for the mobile phone, camera, laptop, and smartwatch insurance); specific tariff names are likewise not listed (per the product page, as of July 2026).
- Compensation is capped at the device's current value; per the product page, the current value declines with the device's age, e.g. 100% up to 1 year, 50% from 3 years (per the product page, as of July 2026).
What is not covered?
Not insurable/not covered:
- Removable storage media, auxiliary and operating materials, consumables, and tools
- Damage to parts that, based on experience, need to be replaced repeatedly over the device's lifetime
- Accessories purchased separately or additionally, as well as subsequently
- Software of any kind
- Devices delivered defective, instruments
- Devices whose serial or IMEI number has not been disclosed
- Devices manufactured or modified to customer specification
Coverage restrictions (exclusions from cover):
- Damage from grossly negligent or intentional acts
- Damage from battery wear, if the maximum battery capacity falls below 60% or the device is older than 4 years at the time of the claim
- Damage from loss of the device through leaving it behind, forgetting, misplacing, or otherwise (fully excluded under the basic variant without the theft module; even under the extended variant, mere loss without a theft/robbery event remains excluded)
- Damage that already existed before contract inception
- Damage covered under warranty or manufacturer's guarantee
- Damage from war, civil war, war-like events, internal unrest, pandemics, nuclear energy/ionizing radiation, strikes and other industrial action, seizure, and other acts of public authority
Which deductibles and waiting periods apply?
The IPID states no specific deductible amounts or waiting periods (refers to the insurance certificate/conditions). Per the product page, an agreed deductible is deducted from the benefit in the event of a claim, without a specific amount being stated (per the product page, as of July 2026). Relevant deadlines per the IPID:
- Reporting the IMEI/serial number after receiving a new or replacement device: within 2 weeks, in writing
- Reporting a claim: without delay, at the latest within 14 days of becoming aware of it, online
- In the case of theft/break-in theft/robbery/looting/vandalism/sabotage (extended variant): additionally, a police report within 24 hours of discovery
- First/one-time premium: due immediately upon contract conclusion, at the latest 2 weeks after receiving the insurance certificate
