What is covered?

Reimbursed are actually incurred, invoiced costs for (scope varies by tariff):

  • veterinary-medically necessary treatment due to illness or accident
  • veterinary-medically necessary surgery under partial/general anesthesia or sedation
  • wound care by suturing (primary/secondary wound closure)
  • pre-operative examinations (day before + day of surgery; from Superior: multi-day also covered)
  • post-treatment (Basis20/Basis50: up to day 14; Premium: up to day 15; Superior10/Superior0: up to day 20)
  • medication/consumables prescribed by the vet
  • accommodation at a veterinary clinic (Basis: up to 10 days; Premium: up to 15 days; Superior: up to 20 days)
  • neutering/spaying, where medically necessary (from Premium: covered generally, not only when medically necessary)
  • health flat-rate allowance (check-ups, vaccinations, deworming, dental prophylaxis; Basis20/50: up to €30/year, Premium: up to €70/year, Superior: up to €100/year, additionally labeled there)
  • telemedicine service (all tariffs)
  • From Premium additionally: physiotherapy (up to €200 without surgery / €500 after surgery), tooth extractions/root canal treatments, homeopathy/acupuncture, laser therapy
  • From Superior10/Superior0 additionally: prostheses/orthoses (max. contribution €650)

Vet fees are reimbursed up to 3x (Basis) or 4x (Premium/Superior) the GOT rate; this maximum rate also applies for night/weekend/holiday emergencies.

What is not covered?

  • Chronic illnesses, congenital/genetic/acquired malformations known to the owner at the time of application
  • Illnesses/consequences related to mating, pregnancy, false pregnancy, birth
  • Illnesses that were the reason for treatment/surgery within the 6 months before contract conclusion
  • Treatments/surgeries performed to establish breed standard
  • Illnesses diagnosed within the (general or special) waiting period — permanently excluded
  • Health certificates/expert opinions; routine/preventive/voluntary examinations unrelated to illness or accident; cost-estimate fees
  • Basis20/Basis50: neutering/spaying that is not medically necessary is not covered (in higher tariffs, neutering is covered generally)

Which deductibles and waiting periods apply?

  • General waiting period: 1 month (special waiting periods for certain illnesses per the policy conditions (AVB))
  • Deductible: see table above (tariff-dependent, from 0% to 50%)
  • Prostheses/orthoses (Superior10/0): 12-month waiting period

What else is important?

  • Territorial scope: Germany; for stays abroad in Europe, coverage extends up to 12 months. Superior10/Superior0: worldwide up to 12 months; Premium: additionally outside Europe up to 6 months, on top of 12 months within the EU.
  • MRI/CT costs: 50% cost contribution (Basis tariffs).
  • Obligation to uniquely identify the dog (microchip/tattoo) at the latest by the first claim.
  • Monthly subscription: minimum term 12 months, 3 business days' notice to the end of the period; annual subscription: same notice period, automatic renewal.
